Visitors at the San Antonio Zoo in Texas recently witnessed a bizarre, unintentionally hilarious moment when a plush toy of Curious George somehow ended up inside the gorilla enclosure.

Instead of sparking curiosity from the powerful primates, the toy received the coldest shoulder imaginable.

Video shared online shows the stuffed Curious George sitting awkwardly inside the habitat while the gorillas casually go about their day. Rather than investigating the toy, picking it up, or even glancing at it for long, the animals appear completely uninterested, leaving the famous children’s character ignored on the ground.

Gorillas Want Nothing To Do With Curious George

The moment quickly turned into comedy gold for viewers watching the footage.

In the clip, the plush monkey lands in the exhibit while several gorillas move around the enclosure. At one point, one of the animals briefly looks toward the toy before walking away, as if deciding it simply wasn’t worth the effort.

That reaction had people online joking that Curious George had finally met his real-life counterparts, and they wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.

Many commenters joked that the gorillas essentially “ghosted” the famous cartoon monkey.

Others dubbed the moment “Uncurious George,” poking fun at how the beloved character, known for his endless curiosity in children’s books, failed to spark even the slightest interest from the real animals.

While the situation created a funny moment online, tossing objects into zoo exhibits is generally discouraged. Items thrown into animal enclosures can pose safety risks and potentially disrupt the animals’ environment.

Still, the odd encounter gave the internet a memorable visual: one of the most famous fictional monkeys in the world sitting completely ignored by the animals he was meant to resemble.

In the end, Curious George may be known for getting into trouble, but in San Antonio, he couldn’t even get the gorillas’ attention.
