Clothing is one of the primary ways people show their sense of individuality. You can generally glean something about someone from the way they dress. However, there are certainly limits placed in public spaces, even in America, which boasts itself as a country full of freedom. One Texas woman was recently kicked out of a mall after security claimed that her outfit was inappropriate.
Of course, like many internet users these days, the woman also recorded the confrontation, where she could be seen talking with mall security. The security seemed to say that one of the shoppers had actually seen her private parts, and indeed when one examined her clothing, it was rather open. The woman argued that her clothing covered her private parts, but the Texas mall security told her that the police were on the way.
Angry, the woman decided to leave, but she then realized that the security was following her. You could then see her yelling at the security, telling them to leave her alone. In another scene, one security guard even told her to put on a jacket, which she refused to do. The woman then told him to leave her alone and called him a weird man. The Texas mall security didn’t listen to her and just kept following her.
When she uploaded her video to her Instagram account, keketherealmrsjones, the woman said that she had already been in the mall for three hours and nobody commented on her clothing until the Texas mall security told her to leave.
The response to the video was rather mixed. Not everyone was on the Texas woman’s side, with many even criticizing her for her choice of clothing. “I mean a) it’s ill-fitting as in not her size and b) it’s completely inappropriate to wear strip club attire in a mall,” one user said.
Another wrote, “People will go to private (yes; malls are private places and even have dress codes, be wrong and die mad about it) spaces where children are, dressed provocatively, because needing attention is their entire personality, and then be like ‘HOW COME I’M GETTING REMOVED FROM THE SPACE!?’… also for attention.”
Others were just confused by the whole incident, finding it to be blown out of proportion. “This is weird,” one commenter wrote. Some criticized the Texas mall security, arguing that even if they were right about her needing to dress more appropriately, there was no need to trail after her as she was trying to leave. “Nah… dude’s a weirdo. She’s obviously leaving. Why is he attempting to escalate the situation into a confrontation?” one Redditor said.
