Crimson Desert is truly one of those games that let you do as many things as you can, whether that means stealing wagons, befriending cats, or launching yourself as a catapult to reach faraway places. However, players might be wondering just how far things go with certain systems, and if they offer certain experiences that line up more with an RPG. One of the most common questions is if Crimson Desert has any form of romance, and well, here we’ll tell you if you can find love in Pywell or not.
Can You Romance Others in Crimson Desert?

The short and bitter answer is no; there’s no romance in Crimson Desert. As you know, Crimson Desert is more of an action/adventure game, rather than an RPG, meaning that you won’t see dialogue choices, decisions you need to make to progress the story, or even an in-depth affinity system. While there is an affinity mechanic with basically every interactable NPC in the world, giving them a gift or talking to them daily won’t lead to a possible romance, so if you were looking to satiate your Kliff x Oongka ship, yeah, that won’t happen here.
While this might be a bummer for some players, the truth is that a romance system isn’t needed at all, and it sort of makes sense once you take a look at the story. All Greymanes feel more like a big sibling family, so throwing romance into the mix would change the tone of the overarching narrative considerably.
However, the road isn’t that lonely for Kliff, as he can actually summon the other playable characters to fight alongside him. Yes, there aren’t any interactions or quests you need to complete to befriend them, but having them around while you explore Pywell is a nice touch.
Instead of looking for romance, we recommend focusing on befriending cats and dogs, as they are the real stars of the game. They can help you gather materials and loot corpses, but we’ll dive into that in a different guide.
