She had proof

Most people want as little interaction as possible when they’re out enjoying some shopping by themselves. But what happens when you’re minding your own business and somebody inserts themselves into your day anyway? This is exactly what happened to a New Jersey woman when a regular ShopRite trip turned accusatory. She claims she was “racially profiled” by a loss prevention employee who followed her to another store. Why? He wanted to accuse her of stealing from ShopRite.

KG (@kiaarra92) shared a TikTok video after she was accused of stealing goods from an Edison, New Jersey ShopRite store. She is seen re-entering the store and asking the front desk for a “manager.” She tells the two men at the counter that she had an “unfortunate experience” at another store after leaving ShopRite. According to her, “loss prevention” followed her into another store and accused her of stealing in front of everyone there. She said she had a “paid” sticker and showed it to him, and he said he would call the police. KG asked them to bring her the manager and loss prevention to confront them about the interaction.

When KG showed the loss prevention employee her sticker, he told her, “You can get this sticker from anywhere” and didn’t believe her. He eventually left her alone but she decided to take action and go back to ShopRite to question them. The manager arrives and asks KG if she’s “alright” and she says no, and explains what happened. You then see the manager scurrying away to find the exact loss prevention employee she spoke with.

Eventually, the loss prevention employee appears, and KG is understandably not happy with him. When she starts to ask him where the police are, he tells her, “It was a misunderstanding.” She demands, “It was a misunderstanding that you followed me to another store and accused me of stealing? The [expletive] sticker here says ‘paid,’ don’t it?” She doesn’t allow him to get a word in edgewise. KG she tells him that she would never try to steal from them. She asks why he would accuse her of that in the first place. He stumbles around, trying to make matters right, stuttering, “I understand.” But KG isn’t having it, having someone make the worst accusation against her. He tells her, “That isn’t very nice” and KG tells him it wasn’t very nice of him to make those accusations.

In the end, the loss prevention employee tells her he isn’t going to call the police. But as she keeps berating him for his actions, he tells her to leave. He mentions that she’s “trespassing.” He tells her if she doesn’t leave the store, she’s “going to be arrested.” One commenter applauded KG for standing up for herself by saying, “You go girl!” Another mentioned, “And… to follow you to another store? File a formal complaint with corporate.”
