According to Kotaku, Microsoft has delayed Crackdown 3 to 2019. Well, I hope they have something big planned for Sunday.

Jason Schreier of Kotaku is reporting this rumor. Here is an excerpt from his article:

โ€œA polarizing showing at E3 2017 and some severe development struggles led Microsoft to delay the game, first to a vague spring 2018 window, and now to next year, said those two sources, speaking anonymously so as to protect their careers.โ€

UPDATE: Via Kotaku, Microsoft has confirmed that Crackdown 3 will release in February 2019.

Crackdown 3 has had a bumpy production thus far. Since its announcement back in 2014, yes you heard that right, Microsoft has been constantly delaying the project. First, it was pushed to a 2017 release date (releasing alongside the Xbox One X). Then, Microsoft pushed Crackdown 3 to Spring 2018 (later changedย to a late 2018 window).

Shannon Loftis, general manager for Microsoft Studios Publishing, spoke to Polygon back in 2017 about announcing Crackdown 3 too early. Loftis said:

โ€œI think we probably announced Crackdown too early,โ€

โ€œin the past we have made the mistake of announcing some exclusives a little bit too early. Weโ€™re trying to learn from that mistake and do better, so we have a bit thatโ€™s in development now that weโ€™re not talking about. Weโ€™re in this for the long haul, and we wanna make sure that not just in the spring of 2018, but in the summer, and in the fall, and the spring of 2019 that weโ€™ll have great, unique, fun experiences for Xbox gamers.โ€

Again, this quote was from 2017 so some of it is a bit out of date. Regardless, itโ€™s safe to say that Microsoftย won’tย be announcing any more new games of this magnitude unless they are ready to go.

Microsoftโ€™s E3 conference will take place Sunday, June 10th at 4:00 PM EST.

Does this delay impact your expectations for Xbox heading into E3 2018? What are you hoping to see from the platform this Sunday? Let us know in the comments and be sure to follow us here at The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
