An interaction in a Florida Staples parking lot left a woman baffled. The reason why the woman was confronted in the first place? According to the TikToker who made the post, someone was offended by the outfit she was wearing while running errands. Ash (@shlayyyyy) shared a video outlining her reaction after a heated interaction in a Staples parking lot in Florida.
While recording the video, you can tell that Ash is watching her back, and her hands are shaking. She tells her audience, “The story has to do with my outfit, so I want you to see what I’m wearing.” Ash shows off her outfit on TikTok, a simple day-out look consisting of black shorts, a brown crop-top tee, and a bag slung over her shoulder.
While walking through the Staples parking lot and approaching the store, Ash saw herself in the window. She also saw an older woman coming up behind her. Through their reflections in the window, she saw the woman start to swing her bag at Ash’s head! Naturally, Ash ducked to avoid the hit. However, she wasn’t about to let things go without a confrontation.
Ash turned to the lady and asked her, “What the heck was that for?” The woman scoffed at her, seemingly uncaring about the fact that she was caught for almost assaulting Ash. The woman did not apologize. Instead, she said to Ash, “I would not leave my house dressed like that if I were you.” Ash retorted, “Well, good thing you’re not me. So that, therefore, means you should hit me?” By this time, Ash says the woman was “freaking out” in Staples. She continued to carry on as Ash questioned her about her intentions. She called her out for nearly striking her with a bag just because of her outfit choice. At the end of the video, Ash looks at the camera, clearly bewildered by the entire confrontation.
Commenters agreed that Ash’s outfit is “the most normal outfit I’ve ever seen.” They state that she wasn’t wearing anything that should have caused a public confrontation. Another commenter added, “You are a much better person than me.” Another commenter gave some useful advice to anybody who has gone through something like this act of violence: “Oh I woulda called the cops AND pressed charges. I am so sorry that happened to you.”
The viral video left viewers confused, wondering what prompted this near-attack. It continues to garner important discussions, such as one commenter’s weigh-in: “It’s not my job to make you comfortable with how I decide to dress.”
