When you’re on the road, you want to get from point A to point B as quickly (and safely) as possible, while obeying traffic laws. It’s really not that hard. However, one woman in Maryland was stopped in her tracks when a man suddenly broke her car window before fleeing the scene.
Posted by TikTok user Ilovecharm (Char), the video shows a young man punching Char’s window once, then smashes a hole with an unidentified object. At the time of the incident, Char had a passenger as well. She did not, however, capture what led to the confrontation beforehand.
After calling him “crazy,” Char quickly gets out of her vehicle and jogs over to the man’s car, presumably to get a picture of the man’s license plate. “Yeah, I got your [expletive],” she triumphantly exclaims before the man finally drives away.
In an update video, Char reveals more, including the object the man smashed her car window with, which features several long metal bars attached to a singular yellow piece of hard plastic. Though Char admits she doesn’t know what the tool is, she correctly labels it an “Allen wrench” when someone asked in the comments.
What caused the man to go berserk, Char claims, was right after she pulled ahead of him in a “turning lane.” No one was hurt and Char has since filed a police report, no doubt thanks to her very clear footage of the man’s license plate. Additionally, she stated that she’ll be “waiting for his name” in order to file a protective order for good measure.
How People Are Reacting to Char’s TikTok Video
Not only were people in the comments unambiguously angry at the man’s behavior and road rage, they gave Char praise for her bravery. Several also noted Char’s quick thinking and camera work.
“You was bold to even get out of the car. Glad you’re okay though,” wrote a TikTok user by the name of Keesha. Char responded, stating she was “stunned” but knew that if she didn’t jump into action, “I probably would never find him.”
“Expert camera work. Good for you,” TikTok user Luis wrote. Another commenter chimed in, noting how Char was able to get a clear view of the man’s face and plates.
“He owes $175 in Baltimore camera tickets,” claimed one commenter, to which Char asked, “You looked it up?” According to Baltimore’s official Vehicle Citations site, the license plate is linked to $175 of unpaid parking tickets for running through a red light and, as listed by the document, ‘No Stop/Park Street Cleaning.’
In addition to pressing charges, commenters recommended Char take the man to small claims court for the damage to her car.
