A disturbing sight surfaced on the internet, where a man in Dallas, Texas, allegedly spat on a four-year-old boy in a road rage incident. The mother recorded part of the exchange from her car. The clip was subsequently posted on Instagram. From the clip, it appeared that the altercation had begun before she started recording. The woman asked if the elderly man, who was also speaking from his own car, would say that to her child. Undisturbed by the child’s presence, the man explicitly stated that he did not care about the boy.
The woman called the man a “stereotype” and wished he had the day he deserved, while trying to be polite by calling him “sir.” However, the man rebutted with a bunch of expletives, and as he drove by, he spat at the passenger seat, where the boy was sitting. The woman was taken aback and immediately went round to check on her son. The boy confirmed that he had been spat on and kept insisting that they call the police.
Netizens React To Road Rage, Call For Charges To Be Filed
The clip sparked a heated debate about legal consequences, regional behaviour, and children’s safety during public disputes. The digital community reacted with a mix of outrage against the man and sobering advice for the mother.
One netizen stated that spitting on someone else constitutes assault, noting the health risks involved: “Spitting on someone is assault!!! You don’t know if they have a communicable disease. She needs to file charges against him. What a low life!!!” Another netizen generalized the man’s behaviour to mirror all the men in Texas. “And this is sad because this is what women have to deal with, with the men out here in Texas. Southern hospitality,” they wrote sarcastically. One user labelled the man’s actions as the most vile thing a person can do and echoed the boy’s words: “How old is this geezer?! One of the most vile acts you could do to another person is spit on them. That’s right, baby boy, you call the police right now!!!” One viewer expressed how upsetting it was that the man had no regard for the child. “That’s messed up that he doesn’t care about her four-year-old son. He’s a very rude and disrespectful person.”
Some users, however, thought the woman should have de-escalated the situation or not engaged at all, given that she had a child with her. “Anyone having an interaction with another person while your child is present, keep your child safe, and if you have to shut your mouth and move on to do so, then do it,” one wrote. Another commenter noted, “He’s not even worth the back and forth. Sometimes we have to drive off.“
Regardless of what led to the altercation in Texas, spitting on another person crosses both moral and legal boundaries.
