Being a DoorDash driver lately has been one of the most controversial and eventful jobs online, and it appears that’s not about to stop. One alleged DoorDash driver from New Jersey got a little too political and claimed that he would throw food out of his car window if he ever found out that the person he’s delivering to is MAGA or a Trump supporter. His bold claim has since led to a suspension from DoorDash.
TikTok user esoteric_eriik is the DoorDash driver in question, and recently, he posted a now-deleted video on his account where he said, “Hey there to my Trump supporters. This is your local friendly DoorDasher.” He continues, “And I just want to let you know that if I see a MAGA sign out front of your house, I’m going to take the utmost care to make sure that when I deliver your order, I throw it out the window.”
The TikTok user’s initial post has since drawn outrage online, with many people supposedly reporting the account to DoorDash. DoorDash then responded just a few hours afterward, assuring everyone in a comment that, “We’ve suspended his account while we investigate. Any Dasher who throws food out the window would immediately lose access to the platform.” Hence, certain comments, such as “That hurts him, not us. Someone else will pick up the new order,” rang true.
It’s not clear whether the DoorDash driver in question really followed through with his “threats” of throwing customers’ food, though it appears the TikTok declaration was enough for many people and even for DoorDash as a cause for his suspension. It’s also not clear how long DoorDash’s suspension will last or if the TikTok user will be allowed back on the platform.
The DoorDash Anomalies Continue
Some people online have suspected that DoorDash’s suspension will not exactly be a satisfactory sanction, “3 days max before hes back delivering cold fries to the SAME neighborhood,” according to one commenter. However, it’s worth noting that the TikTok user isn’t exactly the worst of the bunch, as other DoorDashers or food delivery service drivers have actually done disgusting stuff to their customers’ food without even announcing it.
Some even went as far as wiping their shoes on the food, while others, who were caught recently on a Ring camera, even sprayed an unknown substance on the food. In any case, such incidents don’t exactly instill confidence in certain food delivery services. Some people could simply just be malicious or are intentionally willing to harm others, regardless of their political stances.
