‘That’s a Whole Future Army’: Florida Python Hunters Find Two Burmese Python Nests With 120 Eggs in the Everglades

That is a lot of future pythons

Florida python hunters stumbled onto something wild this season: two Burmese python nests sitting right next to each other, packed with around 120 eggs. Deep in the thick, swampy Everglades, the hunters caught everything on camera. You see them pulling out both adult females and gathering up all those eggs. They called it one of the most intense discoveries they have ever had.

The clip was posted on X, and everyone from hardcore wildlife fans to people just amazed by the sheer number of eggs is amazed. The excitement comes as Florida’s Burmese python crisis drags on. These snakes have been wreaking havoc for decades, and despite constant efforts from hunters and conservationists to get rid of them, the problem just isn’t going away.

The footage shows the hunting team pushing through thick Everglades vegetation. They spot a female Burmese python wrapped tightly around a big pile of eggs. As they deal with her and the nest, they catch some movement nearby and suddenly find another female guarding her own eggs, almost right next to the first one.

Together, the two nests have around 120 eggs. The hunters take both snakes and grab all the eggs so none can hatch. You can hear real surprise in their voices as they narrate. The team says it’s one of the strangest double discoveries they have ever had out there.

Burmese pythons aren’t supposed to be in Florida. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says they landed in the Everglades because people brought them in as exotic pets.

Things got worse after Hurricane Andrew hit in 1992, wiping out a breeding facility and scattering dozens of these snakes into the wetlands. With no natural predators roaming around, they have multiplied quickly.

One female can lay anywhere from 50 to 100 eggs at a time, so pulling 120 eggs in a single rescue is a big deal. The FWC points out that when you take a breeding female out of the wild, you are not just removing one snake; you are stopping all the pythons she would have produced throughout her twenty-plus years of life.

Internet Reacts to Florida’s Everglades Double Python Nest Discovery

Reactions online ranged from stunned admiration to genuine horror. Many zeroed in on the sheer scale of the egg count, with one commenter writing, “That’s insane — invasive species going wild, 120 eggs is no joke, that’s a whole future army right there.”

Others expressed complete disbelief at the hunters’ composure during the removal, writing “These guys must have some superpowers or something — I just can’t.” Some viewers brought dark humor to the moment, with one writing, “Imagine if the universe just decided to make a python omelette.”

Others expressed sympathy for the snakes themselves, with one commenter writing, “This is terrible — imagine you were chilling in your living room next to the room of your 120 kids and then someone just picks you up by the neck.”

At least one viewer questioned the ethics of filming the encounter entirely, writing, “Why trouble the animal for content sake?”

The overwhelming majority, however, focused on the ecological stakes, with many calling the video “pure nightmare fuel” and praising the hunters for the work they do in one of the most hostile environments in the country.

The video resonates because it gives a conservation crisis, which most people are aware of in theory but seldom see clearly, a visceral, real-world face. It is impossible to fully comprehend the scope of Florida’s invasive species problem when two enormous snakes are found side by side in the same swamp, protecting 120 potential new pythons.
