Team Ninja released Nioh in 2017. At this year’s PlayStation E3 conference, Sony revealed that the game would, in fact, get a sequel. The teaser, though brief, was met with a great deal of fan approval.

The video told little about the upcoming game. Not plot, no gameplay elements, no release date. One expects this, however. The original game is only a year and a half old. This early into development, it’s only natural that there’s little to show. As such, the cinematic trailer would have to do. But fans of the original received it very well. It broke up much longer presentations on games that actually had showings at last year’s E3, Insomniac’s Spider-Man and Kojima’s Death Stranding.

Nioh wasn’t the only game at the conference with a unique Eastern aesthetic, however. Joining it was the reveal of Ghost of Tsushima, which looks to be less fantastical and more of a historical fiction look at Feudal Japan. That game delivered more of a presentation, despite also being in early development.
