An Illinois woman blasts a series of racist comments left on Longhorn Steakhouse’s social media pages. These comments refer to the restaurant as being frequented by “trashy people.” The woman also claims that Longhorn has yet to remove or respond to any of these comments.
Longhorn Steakhouse has a limited-time special of Parmesan-crusted lamb chops, which has brought “blatant racism,” according to the Illinois woman. She is referring to racist comments allegedly posted under various videos of TikTokers eating at the restaurant. These made her curious, and she wanted to check whether people had done the same on the restaurant’s social media accounts. Her video has garnered thousands of likes and over 100,000 views.
The Illinois woman didn’t believe Longhorn would allow such comments. However, she found multiple racist comments on their accounts. She goes through the comments, starting with “[the lamb] has brought some of the most horrid people out.” This commenter calls them “trashy” and claims that security needed to be brought in to deal with people’s bad behavior. The next comment she reads is more direct, stating, “I’ll wait til after tax season when the clientele is cleaner.”
The comments continue as she scrolls through. The Illinois woman reads a few back-to-back that were left on a post. The first is: “They have moved on from the seafood boils, apparently.” Another one also calls the restaurant trashy and references watching “trash people’s videos.” Her biggest issue is that Longhorn appears to frequently check and respond to messages, yet she claims they have not addressed the comments. She states, “They even responded to a comment to the exact post where racism exists.” She accuses the restaurant of “giving a space for racism” and allowing the comments to flourish.
Illinois Woman Sheds Light On Comments
Several agree with the Illinois woman’s statements, with one person saying, “They are professional haters. They do anything to be racist.” Some thank her for speaking out about the comments, stating, “This video discourse is extremely important.” However, others aren’t surprised, claiming, “Longhorn absolutely does seem like a type of establishment that would allow those comments.” Meanwhile, some people want to know who the social media manager is and ask the restaurant, “Care to comment?”
While the video has received attention for the racism that the Illinois woman is highlighting, it is also getting views for a unique reason. Several in the video’s comments are surprised that people find the restaurant trashy, alleging it was never a fine-dining establishment. Several call Longhorn “bottom tier” and “fast food adjacent.”
Many have commented that these comments have been deleted. However, the Illinois woman claims they are still visible.
