There isn’t really a graceful way to get kicked out of a bar, but one man managed to make an already embarrassing situation even more cringey. He responded to getting booted out of a New Jersey tavern by going on a racist and classist rant.
The incident took place outside Wildwood, New Jersey’s Firehouse Tavern, when a man was kicked out for what appears to be drunken and disorderly conduct. However, he seemed to be under the impression that he was made to leave due to a lack of funds. The man consistently bragged about his self-proclaimed wealth, assured the bouncer he had money, and brandished some bills as proof. He also repeatedly used the N-word, adding a racist twist to his tirade.
Predictably, the internet mocked the man’s post-removal behavior. One person wrote, “The entitlement and cringe here is INSANE.” Another mocked the defense of the man with, “Hey, he’s a millionaire, okay?” Others accused him of having “Little man syndrome,” and “Big ‘who do you think you are / I am!’ energy.“
Others noted that the man’s accent seemed to indicate he was from Philadelphia, leading many to assume he was a tourist in the New Jersey area. One person shared, “All the cops from Philly and racist from northeast Philly go down there [Wildwood] all summer. I never understood why people vacation down there for what it costs; you can go all over the world.” Someone else cheered, “Drunk Philly white guy in Wildwood? Say less, fam.” While some expressed similar delight at the man living up to a certain stereotype, others noted that too many tourists behave that way, ruining the area of New Jersey.
It does seem likely that this particular bar has seen its fair share of drunken tourists, as the bouncer was remarkably unfazed by the man’s behavior. In fact, he even suggested the man come back the following day to try enjoying the establishment again. One can assume that, if this type of conduct were unusual for a Wildwood bar, the bouncer wouldn’t entertain allowing the person back at all.
We will likely never know what happened inside the establishment, but based on what was filmed outside the bar, it appears they were right to kick this man out. Hopefully, if he does try to go back there, he’ll be on better behavior. Maybe he’ll even provide some of his self-proclaimed wealth to the bouncer as an apology for the previous night? One can hope…
