A former business owner from Ohio has gone viral after his rather incendiary statements regarding Trump voters. Because despite voting for Trump and other Republican politicians three times in the previous elections, the man’s business got shut down thanks to a Republican bill, and this has resulted in a rather large debate online because of the resulting rant.
Evan Kilgore from Ohio is the former business owner in question, and his family used to run an undisclosed business in the state, at least until Republican politicians introduced a bill that was passed in Ohio back in November 2025, which bans intoxicating hemp products. According to Kilgore, this bill “essentially destroyed my family’s livelihood overnight,” and he “will not be voting in Midterms, btw,” because of this.
While Kilgore didn’t explicitly state that this family’s business was related to hemp or THC, some online commenters had their own deductions: “He said, Ohio and dewine killed his business. the only thing that’s been recent is the ban on thca products,” assumed one commenter.
Subsequent posts thereafter are about the former Trump voter claiming “MAGA is dying” or “MAGA is dead” in many of his tweets, in addition to “The economy sucks, gas is skyrocketing, utilities are increasing, war is looming, housing prices are exploding.” So far, Kilgore’s tweet above has gone viral, inviting discussion on the matter and even retorts from his fellow Trump voters.
One heckler who tried to call him out as someone who was “never MAGA” was quickly shut down by Kilgore himself, who immediately provided proof of how much he supported Trump, only for MAGA to be turned into a “hypocritical joke.”
People online are calling out the Trump voters’ decision
Apart from the Republican laws, which shut down many businesses, another complaint from Republican voters is the ongoing war with Iran, which has contributed to increased fuel prices and general inflation.
While it’s not the first time a former Trump voter has voiced their change of heart, this particular statement went viral over numerous social media platforms. On Reddit, in particular, many MAGA critics have called out Kilgore for his decision to abstain in the midterms, which, for many, appeared counterproductive to what exactly he wanted.
Some commenters have thus accused Kilgore, saying, “Because if he can’t vote for a racist and sexist white man then he won’t vote at all 😡. Seriously though. To be deeply personally affected by the policies and just throw a tantrum and opt out is crazy.” Others didn’t exactly mince words with their criticisms, “Even with the gop destroying the country this brainwashed zombie cant say he’ll vote Democrat.”
