Tennessee Parents Furious and Want School Board Member Fired for Telling Student: ‘God, You’re So Hot’

No excuse for this!

Concerned Tennessee residents have called for the dismissal of a Board of Education committee member over a controversial statement he made to a high school student at a BOE meeting. A clip from the meeting was posted on X with a caption explaining that the official, Keith Ervin, stood by his remarks, justifying them by saying he did not mean anything by them and that the viral clips were taken out of context.

NEW: A Tennessee school board member is standing by his comments after telling a high schooler, "God, you’re hot," during a meeting.

No one was seen challenging Washington County official Keith Ervin after he made the comment and put his arm around the girl.

In the clip, Ervin turned towards the girl, intently following what she was saying. When she finished speaking, he said, “God, you’re hot, you know that? Where do you go to school?” as he put his arm around her shoulders. His remarks roused laughter from some members of the committee, and the meeting went on as if nothing had happened. After a few moments, Ervin reached over to rub the high schooler’s shoulder again.

As reported by WSMV4, a petition was launched after the meeting, requesting the removal of Ervin and the Washington County Schools’ superintendent, Jerry Boyd, with over 2,500 signatures. The Washington County Board of Education is set to hold an emergency meeting to address the “inappropriate comments” made by one of its members.

No Excuse For ‘Inappropriate’ Comment, Public Cries

Netizens swung into full condemnation of the official’s remarks, characterizing them as a gross breach of professional boundaries, and frowning at what seemed like sexualization of the minor by those in positions of authority. They called for immediate resignation or termination to protect the integrity of the school system.

One individual rejected the idea that the comment was harmless, highlighting the “creepiness” of the word used, “Run this creep outta town ASAP. So many other ways to express a compliment, and yet he chose ‘hot’. Smh the creepiness factors here.” Another user was not only appalled by the primary offender but also by every bystander, writing, “The fact that nobody said anything in this video is beyond disgusting.“

Many other users poked at the official’s choice of words. “That’s not something that ever would cross my mind to say. Not even to an adult, never mind a child,” one said, emphasizing how far from normal the comment was. “Calling a high schooler hot is not appropriate. Especially during the whole Epstein files thing,” someone else wrote, attaching it to a wider topic.

A commenter stated that the official was unfit for the position, “No way this guy should have a job on any school board!!” Another chimed in, explaining that in 2026, any man who uses such inflammatory language shouldn’t hold public office. Reacting to the official’s statement that the clips were taken out of context, one user wrote, “There is no amount of context that would make an elected official telling a MINOR they are ‘hot’ appropriate.”

The internet is calling for accountability, believing the board member went too far with his seemingly innocent remark.
