In the modern day, buying food from the supermarket should come with an expectation of safety, not the unpleasant surprise of finding something like a worm inside. That’s allegedly what happened to a shopper in Kentucky, who purchased a bag of organic trail mix from Kroger, only to discover a worm inside one of the cashews. The woman recently shared her experience on TikTok, and viewers were less than impressed by the shocking discovery.
The video comes from a Kentucky mom of two, who posted the stomach-churning clip on her personal TikTok account yesterday. In it, she shows off a bag of organic trail mix, and explains, “So I bought these at Kroger. And I’ve eaten most of the nuts in it. And now I wish I would not have. Simply Truth Cranberries and Cherries Trail Mix.” While everything initially seems normal, the shopper then begins to explain how things went wrong with her so-called “healthy” snack.
“So I broke my cashew in half because it was pretty big. And this was inside of it.” The woman then reveals half of a cashew, but what’s disturbing is the worm-like creature inside that resembles a cocoon. “I about had a heart attack, look at that.” she says, before attempting to remove the worm with a piece of wire. “That’s a bug. That’s definitely a bug. Very disgusting. I’m not happy about this. It looks like a worm.” she exclaims as she pokes it. At the end of the video, she stares at the critter in horror, and says, “I dunno what kind of bug it is but it’s some sort of bug.”
Social Media Reacts to Shocking Kroger Trail Mix Discovery
As the video circulates online, it has drawn mixed reactions, with some viewers expressing disgust while others joked about the “freshness” of the nuts. On TikTok, one user wrote, “Me when organic food (or pesticide free) includes organic nature 😢” while another chipped in with, “Girl, one time I got Sam’s Club spinach and there was a tortoise beetle in it. I put it in a bottle and kept it. Congrats your food is fresh and it comes from nature.” A third commenter joked, “Prob good for u” while another comment read, “why are ppl acting like this isn’t gross 😭” A fifth came in from the OP, who said: “literally, I used to live with roaches and bedbugs, but i ain’t used to no worm 😆😆😆😆 no thank you!“
Even in organic foods, finding a worm is a stomach-turning reminder that no snack is completely free from the unexpected, leaving even the most careful shoppers uneasy. So far, neither Kroger nor the shopper has issued a follow-up statement on the matter.
