A Minnesota adult store is facing backlash online after announcing plans to celebrate the death of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell.

Recent reports about Mitch McConnell’s health have fueled widespread online speculation, with some social media users falsely claiming that the current U.S. senator had died following reports of his hospitalization and limited public updates. The rumors also prompted some of his critics to post messages expressing hope that he had died, while others condemned those reactions as insensitive. However, there is no confirmed evidence that McConnell has died.

Adult store in Minnesota, Smitten Kitten, posted "F*ck 4th of July" and says they will celebrate the death of Mitch McConnell.

She also appears to suggest celebrating a Trump ass*ssination.

The controversial video posted by the adult store showed an employee saying, “[expletive] the Fourth of July,” a remark that also drew criticism from viewers. However, the main backlash centered on the employee’s remarks about Mitch McConnell. In the video, the employee claimed that when McConnell dies, the store “will be closed and will be partying. Everyone is invited.”

Some internet users also believed the employee was hinting at celebrating the death of President Donald Trump. In the video, the employee said, “Same thing for when it happens that I’m not gonna say on here because I don’t wanna get charged with some crazy [expletive].” Because the phrase “when it happens” has been used by some online as a euphemism for Trump’s death, many viewers interpreted the comment that way. However, the employee did not mention Trump by name.

The video ended with the employee insulting the Fourth of July again. In the caption accompanying the post, the store also wrote, “We ain’t proud of what this country was built on in the slightest.” In addition, a sign reading “ICE OUT” was visible in the store’s window. Together, these remarks and displays drew criticism from many people online.

Viewers Criticized Minnesota Adult Store Over Mitch McConnell Remark

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers criticized the Minnesota adult store over its comments about Mitch McConnell’s health, arguing that celebrating or anticipating someone’s death was insensitive. “Evil thrives and engulfs the hearts and minds of the Godless. We are in the end times…,” one person wrote. Another commented, “I bet she sees herself as super tolerant and as part of the good guys.”

Some viewers said they disagreed with the store’s comments while also expressing criticism of Mitch McConnell himself. “I wont celebrate McConnell passing when that happens, but i will be glad 1 less RINO is in office. As for her disrespect toward this countries birthday, [expletive] her business entirely. Deport… no, EXILE her. Im so tired of these unAmerican [expletive],” one person wrote. Another said, “I won’t ‘celebrate’ McConnell’s death. But I will be happy when he is replaced by someone with a functioning brain. I’ve been waiting for that to happen ever since he picked up the well-earned nickname ‘Mitch the Glitch’ after he mindlessly stared at the cameras for 60 seconds.”

The video sparked a conversation about whether it is appropriate to publicly celebrate or wish for the death of political figures, even amid deep political disagreements. It also led to broader discussions about the ways people express criticism of elected officials and where many believe the line between political speech and personal attacks should be drawn.
