When renting items like tables, there’s an expectation they’ll be returned in the same working condition they were received, without damage or dispute. Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to have been the case when a Texas woman rented tables from a local rental service. Instead of giving the tables back in good working order, some of the tables were allegedly broken, because the latches on them were damaged. Making matters worse, the Texas woman was also caught on camera threatening to call ICE on the Hispanic owner. The video is circulating online at the moment.
The video reportedly takes place in Dallas, Texas, where a heated dispute is underway between the customer and the Hispanic owner of the table rental company. For context, the Texas woman is accused of damaging the tables that were rented to her. “No, you don’t play with me. Don’t think because we’re Hispanic that we’re gonna let our [expletive] selves. Pay me my money.” exclaims the owner, angrily, who is the one filming the back-and-forth on her phone.
Holding a wad of cash in her hands and sporting a grey dress, the Texas customer repeatedly asks how much she owes. “You know how much you owe me!” retorts the frustrated owner, before clarifying that she owes $57. The customer then appears to walk off briefly to get more money, while the owner explains why she’s upset: “We rent her these chairs, these tables. She’s giving us these tables all defective right here.” While she’s explaining she shows one of the tables’ latches, which appear to be broken.
However, things quickly take a turn for the worse when the customer returns to pay, as the incident begins to escalate, culminating in the customer threatening to call ICE on the Hispanic owner. “Don’t make me call ICE on your [expletive], [expletive]!” threatens the customer, which sparks a flurry of “Karen” accusations from the owner. “We got a Karen up in here! Wow!” the Hispanic woman shouts, ending the footage.
Internet Reacts to Viral Table Rental Dispute
As the video continues to gain attention online, commenters have flocked to the comments to share their thoughts. On TikTok, many commenters called into question the professionalism of the rental company owner, with one penning, “It’s very unprofessional to go back and forth with anyone as a business owner” and another adding, “Both was in the wrong“.
However, some users also voiced their support for the owner and criticised the Texas customer. One user wrote, “This pissed me off I’m SO SORRY this happen to you may God continues [sic] to bless you with many positive customers please know we are not all like this 🌹🤍” while another declared, “I wish your business prosper from this awful experience. [sic]“
Ultimately, the Texas customer did pay for the tables and chairs she rented, though it remains unclear whether she was charged any additional fees for the alleged damage.
