Shirtless California Man Climbs Onto Waymo and Smashes Driverless Car in Crowded Los Angeles Street: ‘The Revolution Starts Now’

Human vs Robot

As AI continues to take over daily life and remove humans from the workforce, one California man seemingly chose to fight back. The individual destroyed a Waymo in the middle of a crowded Los Angeles street.

The jury is still out as to whether this man’s actions were driven by mental health struggles or an issue with Waymo, specifically. What is clear, though, is that the individual was determined to absolutely ruin the car – even if it meant getting arrested (which he was).

It’s entirely possible that the man was some form of driver who – like so many people – became frustrated with AI taking his job. Or, perhaps, he would have destroyed any car, and the fact that he chose a driverless one was pure happenstance.

The internet debated just that within the clip’s comments section. One person gleefully wrote, “The revolution starts now!” Another agreed, “All joking aside, I see this becoming common very soon.” Another individual echoed, “Yup, when someone can’t afford to feed their family anymore but there are self-driving taxis… Real let them eat cake [expletive].“

However, someone else argued, “This isn’t a revolution, it’s mental illness.” Another person added some information to the possibility of the man having a mental health episode with, “Lots of schizophrenics think lights or smoke detectors are watching/listening to them. Can’t imagine what they would think a Waymo is doing.“

Several people indicated that neither of the aforementioned assertions was correct. Rather, many Redditors suggested that illicit substances were involved. While that’s entirely possible, the video itself shows nothing being taken before or during the attack on the Waymo.

Other people noted the man’s physical resemblance to internet personality Andrew Tate. The clip’s comments section is full of sentiments such as, “First good thing Andrew Tate has ever done.” Many took the opportunity to mock the influencer and indicated that they believe the clip shows Andrew Tate, as things have taken a downward turn for the social media personality.

Another prominent sentiment is that California has started living up to the famous Florida Man stereotypes. Indeed, the state has seen a slew of unusual news stories over the years, leading many to feel that “California Man” is the new “Florida Man” in 2026.

Perhaps some of that is due to the large wealth disparity within the state. Undoubtedly, products like self-driving cars will only exacerbate the issue, as many Californians rely on work with companies like Uber and Lyft to make ends meet.

That may explain why people overwhelmingly support the man’s actions. Regardless of the individual’s motives, many are hailing him as the hero the world needs.
