An Uber driver in New York who recently went viral for kicking a passenger out of his vehicle has posted a video explaining his side of the story in even more detail. He expressed gratitude for the support and positive comments, noting that it has earned nearly 9 million views since it was initially posted.
The viral TikTok video prompted users to go directly into the replies to share their opinions on the situation and discuss the broader debate over driver and passenger safety in rideshares.
The Uber driver who gained internet fame for removing passengers from his vehicle after they had made inappropriate comments has released a follow-up video. The original video was taken from inside his car with a private camera and only shows part of the situation. In this video, he gives additional backstory, including sharing a comment that one of the women had made concerning a PIN code that prompts passengers to verify drivers, saying, “Oh, it’s probably because you’re a sex offender.”
Chris also explains that he hasn’t been driving for the company for very long, though several incidents have prompted him to purchase the camera for his safety.
Concerning rideshares, the vehicles belong to the driver and, therefore, can be retrofitted to the driver’s specifications to ensure safety and accountability during and after every ride. They are also there to capture situations like this one.

Users took to the comments to share their opinions on the situation, with one person writing, “My jaw dropped watching the full video. You handled that with so much more grace than I would have.“
Chris also explains that Uber followed its policies and guidelines throughout its investigation and reviewed footage, and even contacted him directly to work on making things right, saying, “In my opinion, they’ve did nothing wrong.”
This follow-up video is gaining traction because of how well users believe Chris handled the situation, as well as for exposing the women’s behavior and highlighting that men can also be targets of such harassment.
He also explains that he hasn’t heard anything from either the person who requested the ride or her passenger, saying, “Haven’t heard anything from you. Haven’t heard a DM, a response video, a comment. No apology video, not a thing.” Chris also claims to have received “several DMs from people in your kind of close circle that seem to know you” regarding those who might know the passenger from the original video.
As this video continues to circulate, it is unclear if the women have since reached out to Chris.
