Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna has recently made new revelations about the now-viral hotel video involving former Congressman Eric Swalwell, alleging that it may have been filmed by “a minor” and paid for using “his campaign funds.” The remarks, which were made during her recent interview with CNN News Central, have drawn more attention to the controversy already surrounding the unverified clip that has been circulating online.
The video in question showed a man who resembles Swalwell sitting on a bed with a woman in a private setting in what appeared to be an intimate moment. The video surfaced around the same time allegations of sexual misconduct were laid against the Democrat from multiple women.
Although Swalwell has called them false, he reportedly stepped away from the California gubernatorial race and his House seat following the allegations.
While speaking to CNN, the Florida lawmaker said that the information she obtained was brought directly to her office. She said she received forensic analysis to verify parts of it and would be handing over her material to the FBI, who she claims are interested in speaking with Swalwell.
Public Reaction to the Claims
On X, netizens have mostly reacted with shock, especially given the seriousness of the allegations. “This just keeps getting worse and worse,” one person wrote. Another commented that the situation appeared to be “moving from a salacious degrading episode into a criminal proceeding.” Someone else said, “Swalwell’s past is now haunting him,” while a fourth felt that “it’s not going to get better with time” and that Swalwell “desperately needs a national distraction.”
A few people in the comments were skeptical if he would actually face legal consequences if the claims prove to be true. “Will he even be charged with a crime? Democrats run wild with no consequences,” one viewer wondered. Another added, “Not sure how this will play out.”
According to the Florida representative, an investigative report on the case may soon be released.
