A video on TikTok depicting a customer arguing with T-Mobile employees in Michigan is garnering attention. It all started when she entered the store to have her phone serviced, only to be told she wasn’t an authorized user, was threatened, and told to leave.
In a video posted by TikTok influencer Kaitlyn Fredericks (TikTok/kaitlyn_fredericks648), she can be heard voicing her frustration T-Mobile staff. According to Kaitlyn, she had two phones, one of which needed to be removed from her account because it had been “stolen.” However, her current phone was considered “unauthorized,” despite having a plan with T-Mobile for “over eight years.”
Her current phone she says was sold to her at that very T-Mobile store. While her father was at a funeral mourning her grandfather, she was trying to get the problem straightened out. In her TikTok video, she says, “They are getting hostile, they are yelling at me.” Kaitlyn points to a second T-Mobile employee and claims “She threatened to fight me.” In response, the employee throws up the peace sign and sticks her tongue out.
“You’re going on TikTok. I am famous on there, too. So, you guys are going down,” Kaitlyn says. At this point, the T-Mobile employees completely disengage and tell Kaitlyn she needs to leave, with a third employee saying they’d be calling the police. Before the video ends, the first employee Kaitlyn spoke to tries to assert she wasn’t an authorized user.
In two follow-up videos, (Part 1; Part 2) Kaitlyn adds further context, sharing that she’ll keep everyone informed once T-Mobile’s security sees footage. According to her, the T-Mobile employees had accused Kaitlyn of getting the phone “illegally.” When she tells them that she’ll be taking it to “civil,” that’s when she was told to leave, with one of the employees allegedly attempting to push Kaitlyn out of the store and threatening to fight her.
How People Online Are Reacting to Kaitlyn’s Frustrating Experience
On TikTok, people were mostly in support of Kaitlyn, with only a few admonishing her for mentioning fame. However, many commenters took this as an opportunity to trash T-Mobile and their service.
“T-Mobile is the Spirit Airlines of phone carriers” one viewer wrote, while another said “T-Mobile sucks [expletive]. They charge all kinds of hidden fees.” One commenter stated they would be canceling their family plan. And anyone who tried to defend the T-Mobile employees were (jokingly) accused of being one of the workers there.
One TikTok user defended Kaitlyn’s reaction, saying she was “having a valid crash out,” and that this video wasn’t for clout. “She’s not a problematic person. This is the 1st video she she making something like this.” Kaitlyn responded to the commenter, stating she was “not perfect nor a saint” and that the experience put her in “flight or fight.”
Some viewers commented on how the T-Mobile employees behaved. “Nope to T-Mobile! So unprofessional,” while another said, “That woman is willing to fight for a company that only sees her as a number 💀😭 Truly embarassing.”
