Arizona Woman Caught Illegally Dumping Heaps of Trash in Desert: ‘She Knew How Wrong It Was, That’s Why She Hid’

A trashy thing to do

A woman was caught dumping her garbage in the Arizona desert, and a passerby wasn’t going to let her get away with it. “She hid in her car when we drove by and took off a few minutes later after we pulled over to get her plate,” wrote Reddit user raunchy_saguaro in their post on r/mildlyinfuriating. They claimed that they’ve already reported her to the city for illegal dumping, but avoided sharing her license plate number online.

People who dump trash in the desert are genuinely the worst

“I’ve already reported them to the authorities, no need to explicitly expose them to the insanity of the internet,” raunchy_saguaro wrote in response to someone wondering why they chose to cover the woman’s plate. OP added that their city offers free disposal services with plenty of options, which is why they found it both unbelievable and mildly frustrating that this woman would drive out into the desert to dump her trash in secret.

“She knew how wrong it was, that’s why she hid,” remarked a commenter. “They’re probably dumb enough to leave their address in the trash on some mail or whatever,” added another. “Absolute losers, who do this,” said a third.

Several more chimed in, pointing out that in their states, they’ve also come across entire vehicles left abandoned by their owners. Unfortunately, the authorities have allegedly done very little to remove the garbage left out by irresponsible locals, especially in rural areas. “They generally don’t spend time or resources investigating this stuff,” wrote a Redditor.

“I have dozens of reports/photographs of all the dump sites on my walk with my dogs, but nothing is ever done, they arent funded,” complained a second user. A handful of others shared how they, too, have experienced trash being left about with little being done about it.

Overall, the comments on raunchy_saguaro’s post point out a bigger issue of people being irresponsible with their garbage due to a lack of surveillance, accessible disposal resources, or action taken by local officials. This woman was evidently in the wrong, but as commenters’ stories prove, more people like her will continue this harmful trend if nothing is done to change it.
