A TikTok video posted by Maddie (@maddswatts) appears to show a road rage incident in Kansas City, which she claims was sparked after she was accused of driving too slowly in the fast lane. In the clip, Maddie was seen engaging with another driver before the situation escalated, during which she made a comment that quickly drew attention online. While she appeared to expect support from viewers, the video has instead drawn a significant number of critical comments, with many siding with the other driver.
At the time of writing, the specific TikTok video could no longer be found on Maddie’s profile, suggesting it may have been deleted. The video is still available on Reddit, where it was originally sourced. In the footage, a male driver has pulled up alongside Maddie’s car and she rolls down her window. He appears unhappy with her driving and can be heard exclaiming, “If you weren’t insensitive, you’d get the [expletive] over. There’s two lanes. One lane for the fast and the other for passing.”
Maddie claims she was driving 10 miles over the speed limit, but the male driver scoffs at her assertion. “No, you’re not. Everybody was passing you. You’re dumb as [expletive]. And that’s fine. Blah, blah, blah. You’re insensitive. You’re a dumb [expletive] [expletive]. And you’re fat and ugly, too.” retorts the male driver rudely.
To this, Maddie snaps, “At least I’m not balding.” which seemingly strikes a nerve with the other driver. “Balding? [Expletive], I got [expletive] hair. What are you talking about?” fires back the man. As the TikToker pulls away, she can be heard chuckling to herself, and saying to the camera, “You can fix fat, but you can’t fix ugly.“
Maddie Faces Backlash Online After Viral Road Rage Clip
The clip has sparked a range of reactions online, with the majority of viewers siding with the male driver. In a follow-up TikTok video where Maddie delivers a story time on the incident, one netizen wrote, “the left lane is for passing I REPEAT THE LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING” while another chimed in with, “I’m on his side lol“. A third commenter added, “As a girls girl…. Still on his side” and another person with a similar sentiment penned, “If you’re in the left lane and people are passing you on the right you are in the wrong.“
Meanwhile, over on Reddit, one commenter wrote: “Left lane on a highway is for passing, not for going 10 mph, 20 mph, or even 100 mph over. It’s for passing—that’s what a civilized society does.” Another added: “Agreed. I don’t care how fast you’re going. If someone is coming up behind you, you let them pass.”
While the video has generated widespread discussion online, most reactions appear to side with the other driver in this incident. The clip continues to circulate on social media as users debate the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.
