A video has gone viral on the social media platform X that features Mayor of Aurora, Illinois, John Laesch, showing how he’s been allegedly doxxing ICE agents and sharing their live locations.
The video’s spread has prompted various users to comment below and share their opinions on the matter, with many condemning Laesch’s actions. According to the post itself, “This elected official is actively protecting foreign m*rderers, r*pists, and p*dophiles. He needs to resign IMMEDIATELY. Disgusting.”
The specific video features a clip of a longer video that Mayor John Laesch reportedly posted online, sharing their physical location for others to see. In the update featured in the video, he writes, “ICE in Aurora today. Currently following them on I88 Eastbound. Patrollers are canvassing the neighborhoods near Laurel Dr. and Lilac on the west side. UPDATE: I followed the agent back to Broadview and lost him. Please stay vigilant as ther might be others in the area.”
As a result of this, many users believe that Mayor Laesch is endangering American citizens as well as abusing his position of power. One person wrote, “Love that the Mayor is doing his job by….*checks notes*……following ICE on the highway? The new Democratic Mayor/Governor fad is to get caught up in things that have nothing to do with their actual job responsibilities. But it looks good, so they can hopefully move up to the next government job where they can do the same thing.“
Reactions to Illinois Mayor Allegedly Doxxing ICE Agents
Commenters went to the comments to share their opinions, many of them hoping for his resignation. One person wrote, “Complete and total subversion of law enforcement while in a position of authority and trust. There should be legal ramifications for this, resignation being the least,” while another said, “Actually, he needs to do more than resign. He needs to be arrested and prosecuted for interfering with federal law enforcement operations.“
For additional context, ICE agents are employed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a department within the Department of Homeland Security. As a result, they do not answer to local politicians or police, which has resulted in outbreaks and attacks.
In April, conservative journalist Savannah Hernandez went viral after having been attacked by anti-ICE protestors in Minnesota, where it appears police were not present.
By the video’s end, there is a call to action to reach out to the mayor’s office to share any potential concerns.
