A California man has gone viral on TikTok after claiming he unknowingly ate part of a mold-covered cake he purchased from a grocery store in Rancho Cucamonga. The video, which has now surpassed 750,000 views and over 50,000 likes, shows the content creator documenting both his shopping trip and the moment he later discovered what was growing on the cake.
The man said he purchased the cake from Vallarta Market and initially had no reason to suspect anything was wrong with it. However, the situation quickly changed once he got home and began eating the dessert.
The cake appeared to be made up of four different cake slices combined together on one tray. According to the man, after he lifted one section and took a large bite from the middle, he noticed several patches of green and white mold spread across the side and bottom of the cake. The video showed a noticeable chunk missing near the contaminated section of the cake.
The TikToker claimed in the comments that he later returned to the grocery store to complain about the incident. However, he alleged that the employees refunded his money but did not apologize for the mishap.
