A North Carolina woman had a less-than-pleasant experience at a Hilton Hotel during a wedding. While getting prepared for her loved one’s wedding, they were harassed and “discriminated” against by employees at the hotel. Now, she’s speaking out against what she and her loved ones experienced.
While at Tru by Hilton Gastonia Hotel, Darian (@dar2sparkle) encountered disrespect from multiple hotel employees. Darian and the other bridesmaids were getting ready and makeup done while waiting for her sister’s wedding. But a housekeeper kept interrupting them and telling them that they weren’t allowed to be doing makeup at the hotel. Darian explains that they were told they couldn’t use a different room so they settled in this one. The housekeeper then asks them in an obnoxious tone: “Another question, are you paying for this? For being here and doing makeup?” The owner gave them permission to use that room, according to Darian.
But the drama doesn’t stop there. A hotel manager named Elva “harassed, disrespected, verbally assaulted, charged at multiple times, and discriminated” against the women. Elva communicates the same things to them as the other employee but decides to do so in the rudest way possible. She comes after the women, calling them “dense and disrespectful” and even throws her coffee in anger as she rushes down the hallway toward them. She asks them, “Would you treat your mother the way you’re treating me?” Then, she gets in one of the women’s faces, who tells her, “I feel threatened.”
The women decide to call police over the situation, which quickly got out of hand. Elva tries to come at them again, but they tell her to stop having a “conversation” with them. They move forward with calling the police and Elva walks away, clearly fleeing this situation. After this, Darian did not include any updates but claims “Gastonia Police and dispatch handled this situation amazingly.”
Commenters immediately shared their reactions on the video, surprised by the actions of the employees at the hotel. One commenter applauded, “You handled that great. She wanted you to cut up so she could say you were aggressive toward her. Glad you didn’t give her that.” Another pointed out, “No, she dropped her cup and basically ran up on you, and then she’s the victim. It’s beyond sad!”
Others spoke out about the hotel in general, saying they’ll be taking their business elsewhere. As one mentioned, “I’m so sorry this happened. I live in the area and they don’t have to worry about me ever stepping foot in this hotel.” Commenters continue to react to the video and share their opinions regarding how the employees handled the situation.
