A video has gone viral on the social media platform X that shares how Pasco County, Florida, teachers are allegedly having their teaching impacted by the number of students arriving not potty-trained.

According to statistics within the video, Superintendent John Legg estimates that ten students in each of the 52 schools in the district are not potty-trained. Commenters shared their frustrations in the replies below the video, with many blaming English Language Learner families for the uptick in recent years.

According to the statistics within the post, it’s claimed that, “Over 500 students district wide aren’t potty trained and teachers are spending time changing diapers and pull-ups instead of teaching They are considering a new policy that would mandate all students to be required to use the bathroom.”

Wall Street Apes provided additional context, including statistics on Pasco County’s demographics, which alleges the reason for this is the rising Hispanic and foreign demographic. According to the post, the demographic includes “– Foreign-born residents: 12.3% – Hispanic/Latino population: 18–20% – Around 4,000 students are English Language Learners families.”

Kindergarten-aged students are typically between 5 and 6 years old, with potty training beginning around ages 2 and 3. As a result of this, Pasco County is considering implementing a new policy for the 2026-2027 school year that would require students to be able to use the bathroom independently, or else the district will have the right to send them home for training that could last up to a week.

Students with special needs will allegedly be awarded various exceptions.

Reactions to Florida Kindergarteners Not Arriving to School Potty-Trained

Commenters took to the replies to share their opinions, with many blaming English Language Learner families for this uptick in children not being able to use the restroom independently. One person even wrote, “Disgusting lazy people not ready to participate in society. There should be a deep dive by sociologists into this because… This was how 1923 shut the border down happened. Scientific studies took place and they said – with data – these people do not advance America. Period.“

Other comments were less about the opinion of the poster so much as ways to help, with one commenter writing, “In the 1900’s children were potty trained starting at 18 months and done by age 2. Parents need to use cloth training pants not diapers.”

Another comment in the same vein read, “Even most day cares, for certain aged children, require the child to be potty trained. Most parents know the sooner the child is potty trained, less money will be spent on the OUTRAGIOUS price of diapers/pull ups. “Logically speaking” it’s just a “Common Sense” thing.”

The video currently continues to spread on X, with more commenters sharing their frustrations and opinions within the replies below.
