When the Davis family went on vacation to Florida, they were expecting sunshine and beach time. Instead, they discovered an unsafe environment and a house they described as “so run down and so gross.” They claimed it was so bad that they left after only three hours.
The mother of the family posted a video on TikTok, explaining the situation. The family is from South Carolina. Her goal was to check out Fort Lauderdale, according to a follow-up video, so when she searched for areas around there, she found Pompano Beach, Florida. A Google search told her that it was peaceful and showed her beautiful pictures. Allegedly, nothing about the location or the Airbnb was accurate to what she was told and shown. Her video has reached over 1 million views and over 100,000 likes.
The mother claimed that when they arrived at the Florida Airbnb, they found it “was so run-down looking.” She explained, “It just kept getting worse and worse from there.” While they knew the Airbnb was located two blocks from the beach, they were not aware it would require them to “cross a highway where people are going 60 miles an hour with no crosswalk.” She then claimed that as they got to the beach, they were “met by five crackheads,” and that the beach was nothing as she expected.
She alleged that she messaged the Florida owners that “this was not what the pictures looked like” and that the environment was not safe. They were expecting to be there for four days, but knew they would “be sitting inside, because [the place was] awful.” The last straw was when her daughter attempted to take a shower. A tile was barely hanging from the ceiling, only to “fall down on her head” when she moved the curtain.
Many Ask Why She Went To Pompano, Florida
Many are asking her why they went to Pompano Beach in the first place. One says, “Your first mistake was Pompano Beach. It’s a rough area of Florida.” Another agrees, referring to the beach there as “a dump.” One commenter accuses the Davis mother of not doing enough research. To which she claims, “I did actually… Google reviews aren’t honest, I guess.”
Her story has caught the attention of several, mostly claiming to be from Florida, who offer her some advice. One tells her to “stop booking Airbnbs.” Another offers a tip on how to avoid sketchy areas: “Use Google Earth to check out the area you’re trying to stay in before booking.” One commenter says they use videos like this to get reviews. They say, “I’ve realized looking [at] TikTok videos instead of Google reviews have saved me from a lot of bad experiences.”
Let’s hope the Davis Family experience will help another family prevent a short-lived vacation. It is unknown whether they’ll be refunded.
