A video has been circulating on social media that involves the New York Senator and Minority Leader of the United States, Chuck Schumer. He is questioned by Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno concerning his Obamacare subsidy plan, with the former allegedly dodging the question.
Commenters in the replies were furious with Schumer’s response, with one person even providing their own negative experiences with Obamacare.
In the video, Senator Moreno questions Senator Schumer and asks, “Have you put forward a proposal that we can read, that you reference in your speech, what says a continued resolution, with the extension of the ACA Biden COVID credits?“
The speech in question is one made the day prior by Senator Schumer about a proposal to extend the Affordable Care Act for one year. According to Schumer, no counter to the proposal was made, so a written statement could not be provided.
Schumer then claims that as a result, it cannot be blocked. Senator Moreno counters this with another question, asking, “So it still has no income caps? So people who make a million, two, three dollars million a year,” before being interrupted by Schumer, who continued to advocate for those who do not make that amount a year.
He says, “The bottom line is that the Senator from Ohio ignores that 99% of people. You want to hurt people who make 10,000, 50,000, 90,000, and hold us up? We can fix what the gentleman said in a negotiation, but don’t have people who are every day being hurt, hurt by paying thousands of dollars more that they can’t afford.”
Reactions to New York Senator’s Response to Senator Bernie Moreno
There were many commenters in the replies who were against Senator Schumer’s response. One person in particular cited their own experience with the ACA, writing, “ACA SUCKS! My youngest son has no insurance from his place of employment. He made $17/hour last year and got approved for 0 dollar insurance. Well, guess the [expletive] what! When it came time to do his taxes he had to pay over $600 to make up for the 0 dollar insurance. ACA IS SUCH A JOKE! FIX IT!“
Others pointed their frustrations toward specific political parties as a whole, with one person writing, “All democratic spending proposals are money laundering scams to divert tax dollars back to politicians. Come on folks, it’s obvious. These folks have amassed huge personal fortunes on a govt salary. What more proof do you need?“
As the video continues to go viral on X, commenters are still leaving replies expressing their concerns and frustrations.
