Florida Woman Dragged Online Over Her Harsh Criticism of Teenager’s $60 Lawnmower Job: ‘Even an Idiot Should Know That This Is Not Acceptable’

He wasn’t a professional to begin with, though

A woman in Florida is drawing attention over her frustration with a teenager who allegedly mowed her lawn. Despite paying him $60, she claims he didn’t even finish the job properly, leaving large portions of her yard uncut. “Even an idiot should know that this is not acceptable,” she harshly remarked in her post on r/mildlyinfuriating. However, among the thousands of Redditors reacting to her, many believed she was actually in the wrong.

Paid a kid $60 to mow the lawn and he didn’t finish the job

Under the username Mermaidemily_h2o, the woman claims the teenager has a “difficult home life,” so a family friend recommended he cut her grass for some extra money. Mermaidemily_h2o says she didn’t get a chance to inspect his work when he told her he was done, as she was busy with her baby. Instead, the Florida mother handed over the $60 but realized all too late that, for her, his lawnmower work was very unsatisfactory.

Needless to say, her failure to check the teenager’s work was one of the first mistakes people pointed out in her post. “Who doesn’t check that the work is satisfactory or not before giving the money?” questioned a commenter. Thousands of others agreed that Mermaidemily_h2o should have paid only after she had inspected the job was acceptable.

Reddit Questioned Why the Florida Mother Didn’t Attempt to Talk Things Over with the Teenager Before or After Paying

Many others criticized the woman for complaining about the situation when she could have done a better job explaining how she wanted the grass mowed, in this case, the entirety of the property. Another person added how someone with a “difficult home life” probably wouldn’t know how to properly use a mower, let alone complete such a big job as her spacious lawn. “Show him how to do it right next time with a bit of patience, and teach him a life skill,” they suggested.

Several hundred Redditors even claimed the Florida mother shouldn’t have even requested this lawnmower job in the first place. “I must be too rational and too non-American for this, but I don’t see a single blade of grass that requires mowing in these photos. In fact, mowing seems to have made it demonstrably worse,” remarked a user.

Mermaidemily_h2o was quick to argue that it was her mom’s fault for deciding to mow the lawn. “I don’t even know how to work the lawnmower,” she claimed, resulting in dozens of Redditors downvoting her.

In the end, it’s objectively evident that the Florida woman’s complaint was valid over paying for unsatisfactory service. However, many Redditors feel her lack of attention to the teenager’s ‘finished’ work and effort to teach the young man didn’t warrant her harsh reaction over it all.
