A server in Fayetteville, Georgia, was fired after receiving a $700 tip. She claims the situation had her in tears, and this led to the manager allegedly yelling in her face. However, Olive Garden has responded to the incident, claiming the server was let go for having a poor reaction to the situation.
The Georgia woman has shared photos of the receipt from the customer who tipped her. On it reads, “Here is a little something to help you on your journey.” The situation began when the server received the large tip on a $30 check and was told the amount had to be verified as real. However, when she asked how long that would take, she allegedly received conflicting information from managers. She posted, “I was let go from my job under circumstances that I believe were retaliatory.” The video sharing her story has reached over 3 million views, with nearly 500,000 likes and over 14,000 comments from people wanting to help.
The woman alleges she was told to either work or leave. She explains, “I go back to working, then [the manager] comes back and just was taunting me, yelling in my face.” When she arrived for her next shift, she was told she was fired. The Georgia woman shares an update, detailing Olive Garden’s response: “There was suspicion of fraud. She got fired for how she acted.” The server states that it “completely threw [her] off when they were like, well, you’re not getting your money.” She claims that all she has received is $6 instead of the full tip. Her update video has already been viewed nearly 30,000 times.
