A Florida woman was left to make the difficult decision to enter her elderly mother in a nursing home. Unfortunately, in her eyes, the care had been subpar. Now, she alleges her mother “declined” and questions the facility about what’s really going on.
TikTok user Mommiyonnax6, Zare’, posted the confrontation online, wherein she’s heard questioning an employee and shaming them for their alleged mishandling of Zare’s mother. Zare’ tells the employee, “Since she came to this facility, she declined. I don’t know what ya’ll doing here but it’s not right.”
Allegedly, her mother was left inappropriately dressed on at least one occasion. The worker said they instructed Zare’s mother to remind the caretaker she needed to be dressed in the morning. Zare’ is shocked by this confession, as she believes this should be a given for a caretaker’s responsibilities.
The worker nods along and says she understands Zare’s concerns. Zare’ explains to the worker, “She’s not in her right frame of mind. That makes zero sense.” She then tells the worker she doesn’t think her mom is being treated correctly. She’s not asking them to go above and beyond; she just wants them to care for her mother.
Zare’ tells the worker they neglected her and basically “left her for dead” at their facility. As a result, she ended up in the hospital. When Zare’ asks if the employee understands how dire the situation is, all she can say is, “Yes.”
Zare’ eventually gives up because she realizes she isn’t getting anywhere with this conversation. She asks them if her mom can just stay the night at her house and they tell her that’s fine as long as it’s “arranged.”
People online are shocked Zare’s claim
Zare’s TikTok video drew in several thousand views, along with nearly a thousand comments, some of whom recognized the rehab facility or had some rather damning things to say. A few who claimed to be nurses also shared that Zare’s experience isn’t new.
“I work at a nursing home and this is so accurate,” one TikTok user said. Another claimed it was an issue with Tampa in general, saying, “This is how a LOT of places are in this area.”
Being constructive, a viewer did try to give Zare’ some advice. “Call State file a complaint take pictures and make video.” If what Zare’ claims is true, then she’ll definitely need evidence for a lawyer.
Others offered advice outside of legal council, telling Zare’ and others to “check on your loved ones daily.” Or, if possible, having family members at home to ensure they get proper care.
Unfortunately, it’s clear Zare’ is now stuck in a difficult position, so that may not be an option. Otherwise, her mother wouldn’t be in a rehab facility.
