A woman in Washington was shocked to discover that her healthy roses had been cut clean off, leading her to believe her neighbors were the culprits. “Deers and rabbits were my only visitors until my neighbor recently popped in,” Reddit user Hour-Bee9396 explained in her post on r/mildlyinfuriating. After examining the cut stems with a magnifying glass, she was confident that an animal didn’t do the damage. After all, nothing else in her garden had been allegedly disturbed besides her roses.

Hour-Bee9396 shared how she messaged her neighbor about the missing roses, but didn’t receive a reply. Her reason for believing her neighbor was the culprit was based on past experiences with them. “ When I first moved in, an Amazon package got delivered to my door, and she picked it up while I was at work and hid it on my back patio under the grill cover,” OP recalled.
Another time, Hour-Bee9396 said her neighbor approached her while doing yard work and made the suggestion of using her shotgun to “shoot the branches out of the tree” in her yard. Now, with this mysterious disappearance of her roses, OP couldn’t help but accuse her neighbor of the act. “I just bought this house, and this made me feel uneasy,” she wrote.
Reddit Reactions Are Mixed, with Some Claiming Accusing the Washington Neighbor Was a Bad Idea
Plenty of Redditors were sympathetic to Hour-Bee9396’s plight and sided with her against her neighbor. “That looks way too targeted to be an animal, especially if the petunias are fine,” commented a user, referring to how OP claimed her petunias were untouched.
“Cameras are 100% the move here, because if your neighbor really came onto your property and chopped your new bush, they’re unhinged,” they suggested.
“It’s truly disgusting that people are so rude and disrespectful today,” remarked another.
On the flip side, some people believed OP might be starting a war with the neighbor she might not want, as her accusation is based solely on assumption. “Well, if she didn’t and you’re passive aggressively accusing her of it, she definitely hates you now,” said a skeptical Redditor. “Just get a Ring camera and quit being THAT neighbor. You’re going to regret all of this either way,” added another.
Within just an hour of posting, Hour-Bee9396 oddly deleted the post and all the comments she had written on it. Whether this says anything about the truth of her accusations against her alleged rose-thieving neighbor remains to be seen. Though, the one commenter was likely right: the neighbor isn’t going to take too kindly to being accused of vandalizing someone else’s garden without proof.
