A sports car driver took reckless driving to another level on a country road in Washington after smashing through residents’ mailboxes and almost crashing into someone’s home. One of the mailbox’s owners, Meerkat212, posted to r/mildlyinfuriating to explain just how wild the situation had been. What he thought could have been a branch falling on his roof turned out to be a fancy car lying sideways, propped up on a tree. The driver wasn’t injured, but also wasn’t cooperative, legally speaking.
“The occupants really didn’t want the cops to show up,” Meerkat212 said, recalling how those in the crash pleaded with him to just call in a tow truck so they could be on their way. Unfortunately, that wasn’t going to happen as witnesses allegedly already called the police before they even got a chance to ask. After “plowing” through his and his neighbor’s mailboxes, Meerkat212 found the sports car had landed in the trees, trees that luckily blocked the driver from going straight into the neighbor’s home.
“There’s no way the cops weren’t coming to this one,” Meerkat212 remarked. Though reckless driving wasn’t all the fast car occupants seemed guilty of. When police arrived, OP noticed a suspicious object being thrown into a nearby bush, making quite a scene as it bounced about until hitting the ground. “Subtlety was not this dude’s strong point,” jokingly wrote Meerkat212. The officer had even noticed whatever the driver chucked away and had them hand it over before arresting him.

Luckily, no one was reportedly injured, but Meerkat212 was now left with a run-over mailbox and bashed-up trees on his property. What he found to be “mildly frustrating,” though, gave thousands of Redditors quite the laugh. “I’m sorry, but the picture of the mailbox on the ground AFTER the car turned on its side sent me into uncontrollable laughter,” wrote a commenter.
“It’s so hilarious to have a (humorously) crashed car 3 metres further down the road but the mailbox and the trees get all the spotlight,” gleefully pointed out another. A third chuckled, “Well fortunately karma was pretty instant with this one.”
A fourth chimed in, suggesting OP do something about the trees: “Request an arborist get involved. If I have learned anything Tax auditors and arborists are people who will escalate things faster than that car was going.”
Jokes and laughing commenters aside, Meerkat212 noted that this wasn’t the first time mailboxes had been the victims of a wild driver tearing through the country roads beside their Washington home. “The neighbors, who’ve lived here longer than us, just told me that this is the 3rd time those boxes have been hit by reckless drivers,” he wrote. That said, the city might need to consider putting up some warning signs to deter drivers from racing through the area, if what the neighbor said was true.
