An Oregon woman got quite the introduction to her new apartment building when, just three days after moving in, she overheard an hours-long screaming match between her neighbors. The dispute allegedly escalated into a break-in, a fight and a child being taken from the apartment below her.

The woman, who goes by @imalele57 on TikTok, recorded some of the commotion from inside her Portland apartment and shared it online. The disturbing screaming and threats of bodily harm left many viewers concerned, especially after she returned with a storytime explaining what she says happened.

Part 2 of moving into these $1,195 apartments 😳😬#portland #apartmentliving #blacktiktok #moving I guess you get what you pay for. It was too cheap to be good, but I’m trying to save to buy a house. 🤦🏾‍♀️

The woman said she began recording after hearing several people arguing outside the apartment below hers. According to her account, a woman was yelling outside the apartment, calling for her 2-year-old grandchild to be brought out. The child’s father had allegedly locked them both inside and was refusing to let the child go.

The woman claimed that the grandmother’s teenage son was also present and at one point tried to kick down a door to get to the child. However, when officers arrived at the scene, the grandmother and her son left.

They soon returned after the officers departed and continued yelling about the child.

Dispute Allegedly Escalates Into a Break-In

The child’s mother later met the teen and the grandmother there, but according to the TikToker, she wasn’t too pleased with her own mother for escalating the situation. She reportedly took a calmer approach with the father, telling him she wasn’t there to take the child. She said she was fine with the father keeping the little one, but she wanted to see that the child was okay.

The woman said she wasn’t sure exactly how things escalated, but she later saw members of the group outside allegedly knocking an air-conditioning unit out of a window and using the opening to get inside the father’s apartment.

From upstairs, the TikToker said she could hear what sounded like a fight breaking out below her. She described hearing stomping and things being thrown around and claimed the group was fighting the father and tearing up his apartment. In one of the clips she posted, an individual could be heard yelling, “Imma kill you.”

After the group left and the police were called back to the scene, the TikToker claimed she overheard the father telling officers about people breaking into his apartment. When officers allegedly asked whether anything had been taken, she said he told them they had taken his child.

Viewers React to the Portland Apartment Dispute

In the comments, many netizens reacting to the woman’s recordings said they were disturbed by the incident.

“That sounds like hell. I would have to go immediately,” one person wrote. Another said, “That’s so scary. If they had a [firearm] anything could have happened.” Someone else added, “Nah this makes me so scared and upset. Because no… It’s traumatizing.”

Some were particularly concerned about the young child caught in the middle. “Is that not kidnapping?” one commenter asked, referring to how the child was allegedly taken. Another wrote, “That poor kid having to hear that on a regular basis is so sad.” A third agreed, “Poor baby being exposed to all that violent mess.”

Several viewers were also ready for the TikToker to pack her bags after only a few days in the building. “That’s immediate cause to legally break the lease. It has to be,” one said. Another suggested, “Show the office the video and tell them you need a different unit bcuz this is unbearable!”

For now, the TikToker has not shared any further update about what happened to the people involved after police returned or where the child ultimately ended up. Her account of what happened has also not been independently verified, and her videos did not show the alleged break-in or fight taking place.
