A New York woman claims she was fired from a salon after telling a customer to stop making racist remarks about immigrants. She states that this “is new territory” for her as she has never been fired before. However, she will always stand up to bullies.

The woman states that the day began normally, but at some point, “the conversation takes the hardest left [she has] ever seen.” The customer allegedly began talking badly about immigrants and Palestinians, with “the word disgusting being thrown around.” The New York woman states that the stylist doing the customer’s hair, and others who work there, “are not from this country.” After tiring of listening to the remarks, the woman asked the customer to change the subject. The lady allegedly responded, “I don’t care! I can talk to my stylist about whatever I want!”

The stylist claims she told the customer, “You’re disgusting, because you should care about how your words affect other people.” After the interaction, the customer supposedly shifted the conversation to talking badly about her. Later, the Karen allegedly told her, “There’s a lot of people [who] feel like me, and they come here, so you better watch your back.” When the lady left, she told the lady she would be speaking with the owners. She claims this led the owners to call her at the end of the day, saying, “I’m so sorry to do this, but I can’t have this in my salon.” She states she’d do it again. It doesn’t matter what racial or religious group is being insulted; she will say something. Her video has been viewed nearly 65,000 times since it was posted, with nearly 12,000 likes.

Several Sing New York Woman’s Praises

Several are thanking the New York woman in the comments of the TikTok video, applauding her for speaking up. Many are saying, “And this is called integrity!” One says, “That’s what’s called standing up for humanity.” A fellow stylist says, “You 100% did the right thing, and I just know the universe appreciates it!” However, one commenter offers her a unique blessing to thank her for standing up for immigrants: “May your pillow always be cool, your hair stay perfect, and may you always get the best parking spot.”

Additionally, many assure her that a better opportunity will come her way. Meanwhile, others are pointing out the potential wrongful termination case on her hands. One says, “This is definitely wrongful termination.” Another agrees, “Hmmm, you MIGHT have a lawsuuuiiitttt. Call a lawyer.”

It is unclear whether or not the New York woman will take action or what her next steps will be, but she has a lot of online support moving forward.
