A woman said she was out on a run one morning when a stranger suddenly assaulted her. She claims the incident happened in her neighborhood in Seattle, Washington, in broad daylight. After sharing her experience on Instagram this week, her story began gaining traction online, with many netizens calling the ordeal terrifying.
According to the woman, who goes by @trainhealcreate on Instagram, she was just finishing her morning run when she heard a man shouting “disgusting” and “vile” comments at her about the shorts she was wearing. She said she froze, and at that moment, the man allegedly threw a white substance at her.
In photos included in the video, the white substance can be seen on her clothing and skin, particularly on her arms and legs. The woman said she felt “incredibly violated” at that moment.
“I said, ‘What did you throw at me?’ and he said it had come out of his body and I deserved it,” the woman recalled in the video. She said she is still not entirely sure what it was and described the substance as “white,” with a smell similar to paint but a “chunkier” texture.
The woman revealed she was able to get the man’s license plate before he drove away with the help of another person who witnessed the incident and took a video. She added that she has also filed a police report.
Netizens React to the Washington Woman’s Post
In her comments, many viewers were outraged and wanted the man to face justice. “People are so sick in the head. He should be locked up!” one person wrote. “Unbelievable! This is assault, I pray the justice system does their job,” said another. A third commented, “Clearly an angry, dangerous individual who needs [to be] arrested.” A fourth added, “Hope he spends the next 10 years in prison.”
Some people expressed sympathy for the woman. “None of this is your fault at all!! Our world is so messed up and I’m sorry this happened to you,” one netizen commented. Someone else said, “You should be able to run (and do any activity) in peace, and feel safe doing so. Man, this infuriates me.” Another chimed in, “I’m so sorry this happened to you. Women deserve so much better.”
One comment advised her to “consider carrying pepper spray on future runs,” while another offered, “If you need a running partner. I got you.”
The woman said she decided to speak publicly about the incident to encourage other women to stay aware of their surroundings. She also advised women to avoid using noise-canceling headphones when running alone, run in pairs when possible, and report any incidents to police.
