A Maryland man watched while ICE agents tackled his brother to the ground after they were observing agents in the area. To make matters worse, the brother who was tackled is a U.S. veteran. The other brother got the entire interaction on camera.
The video, posted by @LongTimeHistory on X, shows several ICE agents tackling a man to the ground and pinning him there. According to this user, two brothers were observing ICE agents in the area, as is their right. They frequently do this after alerts of agents in the area for recording purposes. They were documenting the scene when the ICE agents started tackling one of the brothers to the ground.
While all of this is happening, the filming brother shouts at them, “He’s fully legal! He’s a veteran!” He continues to explain this, but the agents ignore him and laugh at him. They then turn on the other brother and threaten to taze him if he continues to record them. One of the ICE agents tells him to “stay back” and puts his hands up so the brother can’t move forward and try to protect his sibling.
The filming brother tells the agents that it’s his First Amendment right to film ICE and that they didn’t do anything wrong. He then tells them he’s going to “sue” them and asks them why they think this is funny. He continues screaming at them, telling the agents that he and his brother are “legal.” But they throw his brother into one of their vehicles and then collect his hat off the ground. It’s unclear where they go after this, as the video ends.
The video immediately sparked reactions from the community, with many showing support to the brothers. Others spoke out against ICE in their own ways. As one commenter mentioned, “They aren’t agents, they are terrorists.” Another commenter stated that they are “cowards” who “wear their masks and bully the American public.” The commenter then continues, “Can’t wait until November when we take this country back and all these [expletive] go to prison!”
Maryland citizens came in with their own legal advice for the brothers. One stated, “The Supreme Court has ruled this is the first amendment free speech under the Constitution. ICE has no authority to detain or arrest American citizens for filming them. Get ready to pay for violating his rights.” The video continues to bring in an outpouring of support for the brothers.
