One of the most popular cartoons of the 90’s Nickelodeon era,ย Rugrats,ย is being revived almost a decade after its last episode aired. The group of adventurous babies will debut for the current generation in another animated series and a live-action film.
Rugratsย will return to the animated limelight with a run of 26 episodes, and production has already begun on the project, according to Nickelodeon. Arlene Klasky, Gรกbor Csupรณ, and Paul Germain, the original showrunners and creators, will act as producers on the new series. The original gang, Tommy Pickles, Chucky Finster, Phil and Lil DeVille, Angelica, and the rest, will all take center stage. But there will be plenty of new characters to get acquaintedย with.
However,ย Rugratsย revival doesn’t stop at just a new animated series. A live-action film is also rumored to be in development through Paramount Players. According to the announcement from The Wrap, “The movie, which is written byย David Goodman and described as a ‘live-action film featuring CGI characters,’ is slated for a November 13, 2020 release.” And the babies we all know and love will star in the film as well.

Rugratsย made its runย from 1991 through 2004, the primetime of Nickelodeon cartoons, and even inspired a spin-off series, Rugrats:ย All Grown Up.ย And it isn’t the only Nickelodeon hit getting a reboot. Within the past year, they have announced reboots forย Rocko’s Modern Life, Invader Zim, Blues Clues,ย andย Double Dare.
