A clip recorded moments before a plane had to make an emergency landing in Alaska has since gone viral on Reddit, leaving netizens stunned by all the passengers’ reactions. The video began just a few moments before the plane impacted the ground, then continued for a couple more moments before coming to a halt. The passenger seated behind the pilot turned the camera on himself and smiled after the plane had stopped. The pilot alighted first, and the man who was recording put his phone in his pocket as he got out of the plane, which was still humming, along with the other passengers.

The passengers made their way away from the plane and stood at a distance. The man who was recording panned the environment, then turned the camera back to himself. He explained that they were on their way from Fairbanks to Coldfoot and then to Anaktuvuk when something went wrong with the plane, forcing them to crash-land in the bush. While he was speaking, the other passengers began to applaud the pilot, and he joined in. The man walked towards the point where the plane first impacted the ground, and showed the distance it traveled before it finally stopped.

As reported by Local 12, the passenger, Brett Fillipi, stated that the plane had lost power during the flight, and the pilot informed them that he was looking for a place to land. The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed that all 9 passengers and the pilot survived without injuries. Fillipi shared that another aircraft spotted them within 30 minutes, and they were rescued about two hours later.

Internet Is Skeptical Of Passengers’ Uncanny Calm

Netizens stormed the comments, expressing shock at the passengers’ reactions. Many were bewildered by the lack of public hysteria, while some defended the passenger recording, saying he was probably smiling through the shock.

Expressing total disbelief, a user wrote, “Not freaking out enough in my opinion.” Another user supported them, saying all the passengers were remarkably composed and showed no sign of panic despite being stranded. An individual, defending the passenger who was smiling after the ordeal, explained that it is a normal reaction to surviving a near-death experience. Another wrote, “I would have been carrying that pilot on my shoulders the sec I climbed out of that plane. Maybe the shock of it all kinda froze them up a bit. Glad they all made it out fine, and this isn’t some tragic news.” A Redditor pointed out that being able to walk away from an emergency landing is the best outcome one could ever ask for. Many users commended the pilot’s courage and exceptional execution. A netizen joked, “Holy [expletive]. I think I’d ask to be driven back after that experience.”
