A woman in Washington thought for months that she was going through menopause given her symptoms. However, it turns out that she was pregnant at 40 years old. Furthermore, she found out that she was 8 months pregnant, meaning that her fifth child is just around the corner.
The sudden revelation was shared online by Ash Stotts, also known as chaos_coordinator86. She is a baby boutique owner and a mother of four who shares a variety of content online. The clip attached above quickly became one of her biggest, garnering 349,500 views, 31,200 likes, and more than 1,600 comments.
The Washington woman, soon to be a mother of five, explained that she had been with her husband for about 19 years and that they have four kids. However, she does have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), meaning that she has fertility problems, leading to fertility treatment for each of her kids and, unfortunately, five total miscarriages.
“I’ve never gotten pregnant without treatment,” Ash said.
No Menopause For You
Now 40, she believed that, as of recently, she had been experiencing symptoms most associated with menopause, including hot flashes. Once at the doctor’s office, however, she found out that she was probably as far from menopause as possible: she was pregnant with her fourth boy, and she was eight months pregnant.
“We’re gonna have a baby in about eight and a half weeks. Eight weeks, another C-section,” Ash said. “[…] This is absolutely crazy. This is… I’m a walking TLC show.”
In a follow-up, the Washington woman said it appears her boy is measuring smaller than previously thought. As a result, her due date is scheduled for the first week of September. She did list placenta previa as a complication, as the baby’s placenta is covering the opening of her uterus. However, since he will be born through C-section and she had had the condition before, it’s not that big of an issue.
Washington Reacts to Wild News
The shocking revelation sparked multiple responses, mostly from shocked viewers who were ultimately happy for her. One said, “Buy 4 get 1 free! Congrats!” Another one commented, “Good news is that the pregnancy was pretty seamless.”
Others shared their own sudden pregnancy stories. One wrote, “My perimenopause is about to turn 4. I was 45.” Another one added, “My mom’s flu is turning 37 in September. She was 52 when she had me.”
In another update, Ash shared her photos of her past bumps compared to the current one. Her newest one is almost non-existent, which, in addition to not feeling her unborn child, explains why the pregnancy went unnoticed.
