One of the things MAGA is known for is their love of law enforcement. However, one MAGA woman seemed to go against that stereotype when she and a New Jersey police officer had a heated exchange.
It appears that a group of MAGA supporters wanted to take a photo with a Trump flag on New Jersey’s Seaside Heights beach. However, they presumably lacked the correct permits to do so, as the police showed up to stop them. Rather than show law enforcement the respect MAGA claims to have for them, one woman from the group faced off against the cop in a fiery manner.
Naturally, the clip’s comments section pointed out this hypocrisy. One person wrote, “They’re all soooo pro police until it’s their turn to get in trouble. Then they become the rudest, most difficult people police deal with.” Someone else theorized, “Imagine her reaction if someone with an anti-ICE flag, or Black Lives Matter flag walked on the beach. She would be the one calling the cops herself!” Many seemed to take issue with the woman’s overall demeanor, as sentiments such as “this lady is insufferable,” and “trash gonna trash” flooded the comments section.
People also found amusement in the fact that the woman told the cop to get a job, despite the fact that he’s clearly doing his job by stopping her from taking the photo. As one person shared, “The social influencer is telling the cop to get a job… is that where we are at now?“
To the police officer’s credit, he seemed to remain calm and professional throughout the interaction. Still, the woman insisted that the officer upholding the law meant that he “hates America.“
For what it’s worth, it seems that paying for a simple beach pass would have solved the problem without any drama. According to Seaside Heights’s official tourism website, beach passes are required for entry. They’re rather inexpensive – costing $13 for a single-day pass.
We assume that, had the MAGA group purchased the correct pass, they would have been able to proceed with their photo opp without interruption. It doesn’t seem that the officer’s actions were politically motivated. Rather, it appears he was enforcing the beach’s rules regarding who can enter.
Perhaps that group thought they could skip buying a beach pass if they’d only be there for a few minutes for a quick photo. Still, rules are rules, and don’t MAGA like the cops enforcing the law?
