A Michigan woman takes daily walks through her city, enjoying the sights. But one sight in particular always leaves her reeling. She films what she has to deal with every day when she runs into a group of Planned Parenthood protestors.
Sushai (@sushai99) shows “what I have to deal with every time I walk by my neighborhood Planned Parenthood.” As she walks down a city sidewalk, she sees a big group of anti-abortion protestors up ahead. Many of them have religious signage and stand in large groups right outside the building, approaching those who walk through the doors.
Sushai tells her audience, “Just take a look” as she approaches the large group of people, just passing through as another Michigan resident. They immediately notice that she’s filming and watch her, holding up signs that protest abortions. One man tries to tell her, “This is what’s happening here in this building” as his sign implies that Planned Parenthood hurts babies. She pans over to a “NO TRESPASSING” sign, showing that all the protestors are standing right behind it and not entering the property.
As she keeps walking and recording, an older man smiles at her and says, “Make ya famous!” He then questions her, “Why are you taking pictures? What’s this all about? This is a public street, nobody cares. So, what are you doing? It’s kind of weird.” He keeps walking alongside her but eventually stops following. As Sushai makes it out of the crowd of protestors, she tells her audience, “And that’s my walk every day.”
Commenters immediately flooded Sushai’s video with comments. Many commenters were annoyed by what Sushai has to experience every day. Others stood up for Planned Parenthood and came together to support its services. One commenter stated, “People need to stop pushing their views on others. It’s medical care!” Another mentioned, “God forbid I go get my cancer prevention screenings.”
Other commenters said that people need to stay out of others’ business when seeking medical care. One commenter suggested, “People care too much about what other people do with their body.” Another commenter showed how she stood up against protestors in her own area. She shared, “I brought adoption applications and applications to be foster parents. None of them were interested thinking this is helpful, I can’t.” Commenters continue to share their reactions on Sushai’s video as it gains popularity on TikTok.
