Many Massachusetts Republicans are tearing into Governor Maura Healey after she posted a scathing social media message blaming Donald Trump for blocking a bipartisan housing bill, while local critics argue that her own administration’s policies are actually driving up housing costs and straining local resources.
This isn’t the first time she has come under fire over the state’s affordable housing emergency, but this moment looks especially bad as the state continues to buckle under an expensive emergency shelter crisis.
In a recent social media post shared to X, Massachusetts Governor Healey demanded that Trump “do his job” and sign the legislation, arguing that he campaigned on affordability but is now trying to kill a bill meant to build more homes.
But the online response quickly turned hostile, with critics accusing the administration of using national politics to deflect from the state’s soaring costs and the heavy financial toll of the migrant crisis.
As you can imagine, with the state’s taxpayer-funded shelter system stretched to its absolute limit, the local GOP and frustrated residents had plenty to say about her attempt to deflect blame.
“Do your job healey ,instead of spending our tax dollars on immigrants housing , food , health care basically giving everything free to immigrants on our money”
“How do the MA taxpayers get back the $5 BILLION you squandered on your illegal immigrants?
You are DONE in November!”
“Instead of your agenda of bashing our president why not explain what your platform is. Sanctuary state/harboring criminal illegal aliens? War on domestic energy? Green new scam? Stomping on our civil rights? Allowing boy to play in girls sports? Handing $30,000 of taxpayer money to criminal illegal aliens?”
The anger is palpable among many frustrated residents, and Massachusetts Governor Healey’s aggressive finger-pointing message landed poorly at a time when local families say finding affordable housing is their primary concern ahead of a big political season.
