Zohran Mamdani called on Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner to end his campaign during a press conference. He said Platner should withdraw following recent developments surrounding the race. His remarks gained attention as critics challenged the timing of his response.

The exchange spread across social media and sparked widespread debate. Much of the discussion centered on Mamdani’s resignation demand.

When asked whether Platner should remain in the race, Mamdani replied, “I believe that it’s time for him to drop out of the race.” He later added, “The only appropriate response is for the campaign to come to an end.”

The reporter also asked whether Mamdani planned to endorse candidates outside New York. Mamdani said his eight state and federal endorsements had all been in New York City. He said, “That’s where my focus is for now,” before returning to his view that Platner’s campaign should end.

Public Reactions to Zohran Mamdani’s Call for Graham Platner to End His Campaign

Mamdani’s remarks quickly fueled debate online, where many responses focused on his timing rather than his resignation call.

Several users questioned Mamdani’s timing. One wrote, “So the other women didn’t matter?” Another added, “It is not about morality, but it is about maintaining power & stability.” A separate response stated, “Endorsing the hell out of him until they found out he may lose the primary.” One user also wrote, “We have seen this movie before.”

Others supported Mamdani’s position. One response read, “It makes sense. Nobody can’t condone rape. It’s disgusting.” Another user wrote, “Love to see it, every single dem across the spectrum spoke quickly to make it clear we will not be maga. I’m very proud to be a democrat today.”

The online debate remains centered on whether the resignation call came too late, while Platner’s political future remains uncertain.
