Among the many new things that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced brings to the table, pets are among the most-requested ones, and with good reason. We’ve all dreamed about bringing a furry friend on a voyage to keep us company as we board enemy ships. Fortunately, it won’t take long for you to start recruiting some of these companions, and if you’re unsure of how to do it, here’s a quick guide to get pets on the Jackdaw in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

How to Start Collecting Pets in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

How to Get Pets on the Jackdaw in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced

To get started with Pets in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, all you need to do is complete the “This Old Cove” quest. After that, you’ll see an icon leading you to Soot the Cat in Great Inagua. All you have to do is approach it, pet it, and it will join your crew. If you purchased the Deluxe Edition, you’ll be able to equip the cat now.

Before seeing your pet on the Jackdaw, you need to head to your inventory, go to the pet slot, which is at the bottom right side of Edward’s equipment window, and select any of the pets at your disposal. Keep in mind that you can only equip and swap pets when out of combat and off your ship. Trying to do it when fighting or in specific quests will throw an error.

After selecting your desired pet, you can find them next to the Jackdaw’s helm and inside the captain’s cabin. You can pet them in the latter if you wish to do so. Also, it seems that pets are just a cosmetic addition to the ship so far. They don’t have other functions besides accompanying you on your voyages, but that’s more than fine. After all, you can also find a few more pets across the map.

The second pet you can find is a monkey, which you’ll need to free from a ship. Just like Soot the Cat and other companions, you’ll be able to “equip” them once you complete their quest through the inventory menu.
