A North Carolina rapper says his first interaction with a neighbor escalated into a confrontation after the woman allegedly swung a piece of mail in his direction before threatening to call police. The video sparked wildly different reactions, with some calling for the creator to report the neighbor, others insisting key context was omitted, and a few derailing the conversation altogether with racist remarks about the woman’s ethnicity.
Posted to TikTok by @skip2myliuu, the short clip begins with a woman repeatedly swatting a handful of envelopes in the North Carolina creator’s direction before telling him, “Don’t you do that to me.”
He immediately pushes back, responding, “You just swung at me. That’s assault.” As the woman walks away, the two continue arguing, with both threatening to involve police before the video abruptly ends. Text over the video provides additional context, reading simply, “The first time I met my neighbor.”
Viewers Weigh In
Some viewers felt the creator should have reported the encounter himself.”I hope you called because she would definitely call on you,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “File a police report immediately. Don’t ever let anyone assault you or disrespect you.”
Others, however, questioned why the creator was recording in the first place.”Why are you RECORDING????????? So disrespectful!!!!!!!!! She is an elder!!!! Have respect!” one person commented, while another defended the neighbor’s actions, writing, “I don’t blame her at all.“
Many also felt the clip was missing important context.”Hold up, what was the conversation before? Why is she mad at you? Was this your house or hers? What’s the backstory?” one viewer asked.
The conversation took a problematic turn as some commenters began posting racist remarks about the woman’s presumed ethnicity. Others were quick to call out those responses, with one person writing, “The racism in the comments is not making the situation any better.”
Commenters never reached a consensus on whether the creator should have been recording in the first place. While some felt filming strangers without their permission was disrespectful, others argued documenting encounters like this is necessary, particularly when they involve a person of color and the threat of police.
