A viral video was posted to TikTok recently that features a young Oklahoma girl showing strong emotional intelligence toward her mother after the passing of her great-grandfather. Since then, people on the internet have been leaving behind replies and commending her family for being good role models.

The video currently has 2.6 million likes, 12.4 million views, and over 26,000 comments, with more being added by the minute. It is a stark reminder that children really do mimic our behaviors and what we teach them.

The above video features a woman and her daughter as the former cries after the passing of her grandfather. The text written across the video at the very beginning reads, “I must be doing something right if this is how my daughter comforts me after my grandpa passed.”

As the mother sobs over the loss of her grandfather, she explains that the young girl’s great-grandfather was her grandfather. She compares the situation to the relationship between her daughter and father, saying, “Papa was my grandpa, though. You know, like Pawpaw? I’m gonna miss him.”

After realizing just how upset her mother was, she took the time to do a quick breathing exercise with her and share a few words of wisdom. You can hear he say, “We can see him in our imagination. We can talk to him. He will talk back to us. We can always see him. We can always see him.”

She then continues to try and calm her mother down, staying with her throughout the rest of the video.

Comments and Reactions to Young Oklahoma Girl Comforting Mother

The 49-second clip is proof that children can understand and overcome emotional challenges. Commenters understood this too, with one of the top-liked comments reading, “My daughter did this for me too when my dad died. She said she would share her daddy with me 😭.”

Others commended the mother’s parenting skills, with one comment reading, “Mama, YOU gave that to her. She is reflecting you!!!!,” and another reading, “SHES IMITATING WHAT YOU TAUGHT!! you are raising a beautiful person , inside and out 🥹🥹 my deepest condolences 🤍.”

Alongside the above, other commenters wished she could be their therapist, with one person jokingly writing, “Is she taking appointments?” Similarly, another person wrote, “I need a therapy appointment with her at her earliest convenience. 😭🩵.”

Judging by the millions of people who have already watched the video, plenty of viewers walked away hoping to handle life’s hardest moments with the same level of grace.
