‘Sovereign Citizen Nut Case’: Florida Driver Spots Rare Tameri License Plate In the Wild

Another strange case

Custom plates are common in almost every state around the country, yet there are a few that make heads turn because of how out-of-the-ordinary they are. An example of this happened in Florida. One Reddit user took a picture of a Tameri license plate and wondered if having that is legal at all. While some Floridians talked about the repercussions of having a plate like this in the state, others advised OP to stay away from “sovereign citizens,” as they believe they tend to bring trouble to people.

Is this legal?

According to OP, they spotted a Ram truck with a plate they hadn’t seen before. They tried to research this plate, and apparently, the internet said it was fake or self-issued. However, after asking the Florida subreddit, many locals provided context for this Tameri plate.

For those who don’t know, many in the Tameri community call themselves sovereign citizens, which, as many know, isn’t legal, especially when displayed on a plate. Many Redditors pointed out that these plates offer no legal protection, even if the image above shows a State Exempt sign.

Furthermore, a few focused on the fact that those of this particular community, or any other that has “sovereign citizens,” tend to be trouble for actual citizens.

One Redditor shared a story about a Tameri member who was supposedly stopped at the TSA, shutting down the line for 30 minutes because they didn’t have an ID. Some also commented that police officers often stop them and fine them for using an improper plate.

Some Florida Locals Are Done With Sovereign Citizens

The picture above caused a lot of backlash among sovereign citizen communities, with most Redditors criticizing them.

“Sovereign citizen nut case.”

“Nothing like putting a sign on your car saying ‘Pull me over and arrest me.’“

Still, a few also commented that they have seen these “citizens” getting arrested, meaning that the plates aren’t really helping their cause, as people put it.

“I’ve seen a few over the years for different groups. They usually end up getting arrested or their car towed at a minimum.“

As you can see, not many in Florida are happy with these sovereign citizens, as they often cause issues for those around them and allegedly don’t seem to respect the laws. Yet some cops do stop them, so that’s something.
